Since 2013, where I started my activity this area has been important.
This is my primary work area. I have a long experience. Linguistically at the university, but even back to the age of 16, where I built a transmitter, that showed white and black bars on my parents' TV set.
This page is about our professional services of technical translations, but see also my other pages and the menu Industries. A part of the technical translations is web-localization of online documentation content.

To be updated
Most industries represented owe their existence to three main areas:
1. is that the user should procure, learn and use the product in an easy, described and safe way. They paid for this. They find this in manuals and online documentation.
2. Is the laws and regulations for the industrial area. From regulations to risk assessments. The machine regulation also dictates documentation for each version of machinery to be available in a number of years. And updates to be made. For customer registration some GDPR rules exist. Same for conformity and guarantees. All this will be translated as well.
The laws can also give protection rules for consumers.
3. Contracts - they often indicate if documentation is publically available or if disclosure rules are present. And many other things that affects the documents.
4. Patents - I normally don't deal with these.
Certain AI based tools are strong when it comes to terminogy and list of terms. This can also strenghten consistency check.
It may be descriptions of concepts, of parts of organizations or commisions, and other ways to get background knowledge for the translator. Fact check.
Most CAT tools have quality plugins, and AI can also be used for quality checkingin parallel with human checking
This control function allows all kinds of fact checking and other processes. Complex translations can be reversed. It is important to remove fake informations.
Manuals come in variations. it can be almost similar documents, related languages, machine variants and sizes, and new versions.
The translation memories are essential. When a new version occurs, most of the text has already been translated.
When using AI (se my AI Strategy in the menu) it must be assured everything is consistent. Therefore quality tools are being used as well. Use of AI is fast but requires a more substantial quality control.
Normally CAT tools are used, either my own (where I have control of the process) or online versions belonging to an agency
Technical translations have always had an important amount of IT based tools. Whether it is translation or MPTE, CAT tools is used, and they can have API for IA, they can have TMs and term bases and quality plugins. Read more about tools on the other pages.
Glossaries and Translation Memories can belong to the agency or the company or access can be bought online and consists of a substantial amount of documentation
We can also create these from your documents or content for future use with translation or AI. You will pay an hourly pay for this.
Rates for translation exist because we add a value in the process. Many people consider this as an expense, but in fact it is an added value to your business.
You rarely find hourly pay for this, but word rates. The standard rates of Proz.com is being used, with a surplus. Translations in Scandinavia is more expensive than in Italy or Spain.
Sometimes a Tau is used. You pay less for percentage matches and repetitions - This can vary a lot but is not always fair. Ask me for actual rates in your case.
Most customers have an NDA with us: Non Disclosure Agreement. We take good care you your documents and they are safe with us. Remember to see our AI strategy and GDPR clauses. Even if using AI we use APIs, no texts are updated in an LLM or in databases! If is safe. We cannot guarantee anyone listening or spying on the connection or intermediate sites.
